Aquatic Harvesting & Weed Removal

Water Raptor is Utah's field crew for aquatic harvesting, invasive weed removal, and shoreline access restoration. We use amphibious equipment to clear overgrowth, floating mats, and blocked shorelines in ponds, lakes, canals, and retention basins.

Aquatic harvesting operation in Utah with amphibious equipment

What this solves

Common waterbody problems our harvesting crews are called in to handle.

Cattails & phragmites

Dense shoreline bands that limit visibility, access, and shoreline use.

Floating weed mats

Surface mats that trap debris and reduce circulation across open water.

Blocked shoreline access

Overgrowth that restricts ramps, work edges, and routine shoreline entry.

Shallow-water overgrowth

Nuisance growth in low-depth zones where standard equipment cannot operate.

Vegetation around docks

Plant buildup around dock lines that interferes with launch and movement.

Retention pond growth

Aggressive vegetation that reduces function and creates maintenance backlog.

How aquatic harvesting works

Four practical field steps from first look to cleared water.

01

Assess access & growth

We evaluate site conditions, water depth, and vegetation density before equipment arrives.

02

Cut & collect vegetation

Amphibious equipment cuts and gathers vegetation directly from the water without disturbing banks.

03

Haul material out

All biomass is removed from the waterbody — no cuttings left to decompose and regrow.

04

Plan follow-up if needed

If regrowth warrants it, we recommend herbicide treatment, maintenance visits, or return harvesting.

Good fit for aquatic harvesting

  • Dense cattails or phragmites blocking shoreline
  • Floating mats choking pond or lake surface
  • Dock or ramp access blocked by vegetation
  • Retention basin weeds reducing capacity
  • Sites needing biomass removed, not just killed
  • Shallow or soft-bottom waterbodies

When another service may fit better

Why mechanical harvesting?

  • Removes vegetation and biomass — no chemical residue left behind
  • Restores access for people, equipment, and wildlife
  • Works in shallow water, tight banks, and sensitive sites
  • Targets problem zones without treating the whole pond
  • Reduces organic debris and future regrowth pressure
